Han Ji-Hyeon
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to comprehensively evaluate the effectiveness of preventive and therapeutic interventions for child maltreatment through a meta-analysis. 10 papers on child maltreatment prevention programs and 19 papers on child maltreatment therapy and intervention programs were finally classified through database search engines and paper classification criteria. From these papers, 28 and 63 small studies were derived, respectively, and the meta-analysis was conducted using the R program. As a result of the analysis, the effect size value of the entire program of the child maltreatment prevention program was 0.667, which was found to belong to the medium effect size. As for the effect size according to the dependent variable, child abuse awareness appeared to have the highest effect size, followed by child abuse behavior and potential, personality, negative emotional behavior factors, and positive emotional behavior factors, in order of effect size. There was no difference in the effect size according to the application method between the groups according to the operating hours and the number of operating sessions. Next, the total effect size of the child maltreatment therapy and intervention program was 1.68, belonging to a large effect size. The effect size according to therapy and intervention method was found to be effective in the order of cognitive behavioral therapy, art therapy, game play therapy, theraplay, reality therapy, play therapy, and dance therapy. As for the effect size according to the dependent variable, the behavioral variable had the highest effect size, followed by the trauma symptom variable, the emotional variable, the self-related variable, the cognitive variable, and the social relation variable. Based on these research results, implications for the prevention and intervention of child maltreatment were summarized and suggestions for follow-up studies were presented.
